Welcome to the El Sol Lending Library! I am thrilled to share my passion for reading and community with you.
In 2022, I established the El Sol Little Free Library on the beautiful island of Eleuthera, Bahamas.
Now, I'm excited to roll out even more initiatives to benefit our community and beyond.

my journey
As a Human Resources professional, I have always had a deep love for helping others. I took early retirement to enjoy life with my loved ones and pursue the things that bring me joy: helping people and animals. My journey has been guided by a lifelong passion for rescue work and community service, instilled in me by my parents, who taught me to always be kind and to give generously.
After retiring, I dedicate and focus my time to these passions. The El Sol Lending Library is the culmination of my desire to enhance the reading and learning experience for everyone, regardless of age. This initiative represents my commitment to fostering a sense of community and providing access to valuable resources.

how it all began
The idea for the El Sol Lending Library was born over a delightful dinner with good friends whom I consider family. Dee, a retired teacher still passionate about teaching, shared a conversation she had with a friend about the El Sol Governor's Harbour Free Little Library. She mentioned to Dee that she would like to donate books for others to read and enjoy but expressed a desire for the books to be more than just dust collectors on a bookshelf after one read. Immediately, my entrepreneurial spirit and knack for turning ideas into reality kicked in. The very next morning, I began laying the groundwork for the El Sol Lending Library. I envisioned an online catalog showcasing all available books, complete with summaries, reviews, and images of the front and back covers. Community members could browse the catalog, request to borrow books, enjoy reading them, and then return them for others to enjoy.
